DRUCC propose better facility to Railway Users, general public

             HAFLONG, August 1: The Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) held its 22nd Meeting at DRM office, Lumding on July 25,2016, wherein  one DRUCC member, Liton Chakraborty proposed to provide a better facilities to the people of Dima Hasao district.
According to Mr. Liton, the meeting held a detail discussion over the condition, position and proposal for the welfare of the passengers, all users of this newly converted BG train services. The meeting deliberated mainly over agenda, like - implementation of Heritage line between Mahur and Dittockcherra. or extension of BG Line from Mahur Rly Station to Dittokcherra Rly Station via MG Line as an alternative line of diversion portion; provide additional stoppage of all Mail train and passengerr train in important station like Mahur,  Maibang, Harangajao, Langting, etc. ;

to shift PRS from Lower Haflong to Haflong Town ADEN office; to provide Basic Amenities at New Haflong Rly Sation such as Latrine, Urinal, Catering facilities including vending of other articles; construction of approach road from New Haflong Rly station to  Jatinga Point NH-54 (E) and New Haflong to Mahadevtilla; and  make provision for reservation quota to all long distance trains for Dima Hasao district.
The members also felt the need to make provision for vendors selling snacks and tea should maintain good standard of food and general hygiene. That, the existing road to New Haflong has defective grade and hence very risky for motorists and people walking on the pavement. So, keeping this in view a new approach should be connected immediately. Proper maintenance is also required for the damaged portion of the road. Besides, the distance between Lumding to Silchar section is 211 KM, out of this almost 155 is in Dima Hasao district but the passengers of Dima Hasao cannot travel comfortable in any train from to and fro. Train use to arrived New Haflong already filled up by passengers from Barak Valley from the originating station.
As such, it is necessary to introduce one train originating from Haflong to Guwahati and another train from Barak Valley to Upper Assam. Besides, Toilets, Urinals, Platform with running water supply must be maintained by keeping permanent staff or on contractual basis.
It was also seen that the PRS at Lower Haflong is in a very pathetic condition. Most of the time the server is down or there is no link because of theft of BSNL cable. A person has to visit many times to get his reservation done by travelling more than 4(four) KMs. from the main town. So, please shift the PRS to the main town where many railway designated area is lying vacant.
Lastly, since the New Haflong station is situated in lonely and remote area at a distance of 9 (nine KMs from Haflong Town so adequate security personals should be deployed immediately on permanent basis.
Mr. Liton hope the railway authority will take positive steps for the welfare of the safety, convenience of the passengers and provide better services to the general public and consider the aspiration of the people of this district.
