Haflong, May 9: The 75th Council Foundation Day was celebrated with grandeur and vibrant cultural participation at the NCHAC Secretariat Field.
On this occasion, Chief Executive Member (CEM) Shri Debolal Gorlosa extended heartfelt greetings to all citizens, emphasizing the importance of peace and harmony in the district. He expressed gratitude to every community and individual for keeping this spirit alive. He lauded the untiring efforts of tribal committees in codifying customary laws, now preserved and displayed at the Council Customary Court Library.
Remembering the contributions of historical figures such as King Govind Chandra, Senapati Tularam, Rani Gaidinliu, D. Hojai, and others, CEM acknowledged their role in safeguarding traditions and pledged to continue strengthening cultural heritage. “It has been my duty and prestige to uphold these traditions for the past nine years, though much work still lies ahead,” he remarked.
Highlighting development priorities, Shri Gorlosa
stressed on regional connectivity and celebrated the district’s academic
achievements, particularly the recent success of students securing the first
position in the Matriculation results in Assam. He further assured that the
long-standing issue of salaries in the NCHAC has been largely mitigated, urging
employees and teachers to continue their work with diligence.
