HAFLONG 02 MAY. A press meet was convened today at DC Conference Hall, Haflong, to brief media persons on the preparedness for the upcoming counting of votes scheduled for 4th May, 2026.
District Commissioner and District Election Officer, Smt. Gayatri Devidas Hyalinge, IAS, addressed the press and informed that all officials engaged in the counting process have been fully readied. She stated that the counting will commence at 8:00 AM, beginning with the Postal Ballots, followed by the counting of votes from the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
To ensure smooth conduct of the process, the premises of the DC Office will be cordoned off for strict compliance, and only authorised personnel will be permitted entry up to a defined area.
The Senior Superintendent of Police, Dima Hasao, Shri Ripunjoy Kakati, APS, also briefed the media regarding the elaborate security arrangements in place for the counting day.
He assured that adequate measures have been taken to maintain
law and order and ensure transparency and safety throughout the process.
The
District Administration reiterated its commitment to conducting the counting
process in a fair, secure, and transparent manner, in line with the guidelines
of the Election Commission of India.
