HAFLONG, July 14, 2026 – A vibrant and engaging summer workshop was inaugurated today by Executive Member (EM) of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), Donphainon Thaosen at the premises of Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Haflong.
This workshop being organised in each of the 126 LACs of Assam is an the initiative of the Assam government, organised by the Cultural Affairs Department in association with the District Administration. The summer workshop initiative aims to provide local children with a constructive platform to learn new skills, discover hidden talents, and remain active during their summer holidays. The workshop will be held for 15 days in Haflong and Maibang.
Speaking on the occasion EM Donphainon Thaosen lauded the efforts of both the Cultural Department and the District Organisation for conceptualising a camp that focuses on holistic child development. He emphasized the importance of co-curricular activities in shaping a child's overall personality.
He said, "Summer
vacations are the perfect opportunity for children to step outside the
classroom and explore their creative boundaries. I highly encourage all the
participating children to make the absolute best use of these activities.
Whether it is yoga, singing, or any other art form, the discipline and joy you
find here will stay with you forever."
During the
ceremony, other distinguished guests also addressed the gathering. ADC Shhaurya Sharma also spoke about the
vital role of such activities and said how it helps in nurturing young minds
and keeps them positively engaged. Asst Commissioner Jonali Devi and Dy.
Director and DIPRO in-charge Purabi Phonglo reiterate and expressed how such camp
would inspire children to pursue their passions with dedication.
The inaugural program concluded on a
high note with a brief introductory session where the instructors interacted
with the enthusiastic young participants and started with singing sessions.
