23rd June, Haflong: District Task Force meeting was held today under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) at the Officer’s Conference Hall, NCHAC, Haflong to strengthen precautionary measures against Japanese Encephalitis (JE), Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), Dengue, and other vector-borne diseases.
The meeting was chaired by Partha Sarathi Jahari, ACS Principal Secretary of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC). The meeting was also attended by Rebecca Changsan, ACS, Joint Secretary, NCHAC. Senior officials from district health services, Public Health Engineering, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Social Welfare, Agriculture, Education, officials of Municipal Boards and other head of the line departments were also present.
Before the discussion, a power-point presentation was presented by the Dima Hasao District Health Society on the VBDs covered by the NVBDCP, Dima Hasao and its preventive measures.
In the
meeting then discussed various points for strengthening of surveillance
activities and strategies for prevention and control of JE and dengue in the
district. The meeting focused on curbing the spread of Japanese
Encephalitis (JE), Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), and Dengue ahead of the
high-transmission during monsoon period.
In
the meeting, Changsan directed all line departments to work closely together to
protect public health in the district. She also requested all the field workers
to watch high-risk areas carefully and cooperate with health workers.
The
meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the chair and all the participants.
