A departmental review meeting was convened today at the Conference Hall of the Chief Executive Member (CEM), North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), under the chairmanship of Shri Krishnendu Paul, Honourable Minister to GOA, PHE, Hill Areas, Barak Valley Development & Guardian Minister of Dima Hasao.
The
Guardian Minister was felicitated, followed by a welcome address by Principal
Secretary Partha Jahari ACS.
As directed by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta
Biswa Sarma, the Guardian Minister reviewed the preparedness of the District
Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) for monsoon-related floods, storms, and
landslides. ADC Shhaurya Sharma briefed on mitigation measures and quick
response mechanisms installed within Dima Hasao.
The Guardian Minister emphasized fast-tracked development of the hill district, highlighting tourism as a key driver of revenue generation. He assured that under his leadership, Dima Hasao will reach new heights of progress.
Discussions
focused on spring discharge storage and water stress in the district. The Chief
Engineer (PHE) urged coordination with NCHAC for effective implementation of
Har Ghar Nal Se Jal. MLA Smt. Rupali Langthasa highlighted unique challenges in
hill districts, stressing the need for proper survey under JJM schemes.The
Guardian Minister assured a visit to review defunct JJM schemes and directed
coordination between PWD and PHE.
Joint
Secretary Rebecca Changsan briefed on waste disposal mechanisms, recommending
motorized vehicles instead of tricycles for effective collection.
The
Guardian Minister directed strict penal action against defaulting contractors
in PWD tenders to set an example of accountability.
