Haflong, Feb 11 : The Superintendent of Police, Dima Hasao Dr Bedantamadhab Rajkhowa formally inaugurated the newly constructed Town Out Post building at Sarkari Bagan, 2 km from Haflong in presence of several police officials and prominent people of Sarkari Bagan area on Tuesday. In this connection a well attended meeting was held with SP Dr Rajkhowa and was attended by Jayanta Chowdhury, Addl. SP, S. Das, Deputy SP and others.
Speaking on the occasion SP Dr Rajkhowa while appreciating the people’s cooperation to the police force in maintaining peace and tranquility in the district said this TOP was having much more importance since it located amids important installations like Neepco, several government departments, Railways etc. The Sarkari Bagan TOP was opened on 10/10/1991 temporally In the accommodation provided by the Add). Director Veterinary Department, Haflong but due to shortage of accommodation and security point of view , the TOP was shifted to the Sericulture Publicity Hall on 28/11/1994 and functioned In the said Publicity Hall within the premises of Joint Director of Sericulture, Hills, Haflong and since then the TOP staffs have been maintaining peace and tranquility among the public of Its jurisdiction and providing security from anti-social elements , extremist groups and bad characters to the public as well as various govt, departments situated within this TOP Jurisdiction. On 11 July, 2007, Settlement & Revenue Department of N.C.HIIIs Autonomous Council allotted plot for Sarkari Bagan TOP building by curtailing the land of sericulture department and on 2012, the TOP building construction was started by the Assam Housing Corporation and today we are able to obtained a fully fledged Sarkari Bagan TOP building for better and adequate functioning of govt, duties. The TOP is situated in a vital area of Haflong town where many govt, department’s offices namely Sericulture office, Irrigation office, veterinary office, Agriculture office , Commerce & Industry office, PWD(Bulldlng Div) office, PHE offices , Chief Conservator of Forest office, Educational Institute like I.T.I, Haflong, Sanga Sambudhan College, Head Quarter of 22 Sector Assam Rifles, Head Quarter of 5″ A.P.Battalion, Haflong Civil Hospital, NEPCO and T&T Power Grid Station , Lower Haflong Railway Station are located within its Jurisdiction. So, without the support , co-operation of public. It is quite Impossible for TOP staffs to provide secure and timely. Justice to the society . We always hopeful that public of this area will keep a dose relation with this TOP for convenient performance of Police staff and for strengthening the Police Public relation forever.
